Captured at the picturesque Gibson Steps in Port Campbell, the image showcases a flock of seagulls taking flight from the sandy shoreline, their wings spread wide against the backdrop of the approaching sunset. The photographer, camera in hand, had strategically startled the resting seagulls, causing them to ascend into the sky, their silhouettes casting elongated shadows on the beach below. The timing, about an hour before sunset, bathed the scene in a warm, golden light, adding a serene glow to the image. The seagulls, caught mid-flight, added a dynamic element to the otherwise tranquil setting. The shadows of the seagulls, imprinted on the sand, created a captivating visual effect, almost like a secondary, shadowy flock mirroring the one in the sky.
